Stage 1, Unit 1C: Extending CVC
Every vowel, every day. Unit 1C is the third of the five units in Stage 1, completing the short vowels so learners can read and spell right across the CVC range.
This unit adds the short vowels e and u along with r, h, b and f, so all five short vowels are now in play. Learners read and spell words like bed, run, hat and fox with growing independence.
What's included:
- 6 ready-to-teach, fully-scripted lessons
- A 28-page decodable workbook for every lesson
- Word-for-word helper notes, so anyone can teach it
- Heart-word practice and review built in
- Progress tracking and ready-to-send family updates
What students will learn:
- The sounds e, u, r, h, b and f
- All five short vowels in real words
- Reading and spelling across the full CVC range
- Heart words: are, have, they, he, she, we
Perfect for struggling literacy learners of any age, neurodivergent learners and dyslexia support. Every lesson follows the same clear "I do, we do, you do" flow across seven simple steps, in about 30 minutes: explicit, systematic, cumulative and decodable, with a low-prep layout you will rely on all year. Created by an educator with 30+ years in the classroom.
