Can I use litgapsgone with struggling literacy learners?
Yes. litgapsgone places learners according to their literacy development, not their age or year level. Many learners have gaps in foundational literacy skills that make reading, spelling, writing and language development more challenging. Rather than assuming a learner should begin with age-based content, litgapsgone identifies the skills they have already mastered and starts teaching from the point where learning needs to begin. This means a learner may start with Stage 1, 2 or 3 if those are the missing foundations. As skills become secure, learners progress through the pathway at their own pace, building confidence, independence and success. The lessons teach explicit literacy skills in a respectful, structured way, making them suitable for struggling literacy learners, students requiring additional support or intervention, learners with dyslexia and other literacy difficulties, older learners rebuilding foundational literacy skills, and adult learners developing literacy skills. The goal is not to match a learner's age, it is to provide the right instruction at the right time so they can make meaningful progress. Every learner deserves to start where they can succeed, not where their age suggests they should be.
